The crankshaft sensor is an electro-magnetic element that synchronizes the operation of the ignition system and fuel injectors. Without this sensor, the fuel injection system cannot function. Problems with the crankshaft sensor, inevitably, promise a malfunction in the engine. As a rule, this element fails less often. However, if you are going on a long journey, it is better to check everything, since in case of a malfunction of the HF sensor, the movement of the car will become impossible.
So where is the crankshaft sensor? This element is located in the bracket near the generator drive pulley. It is installed with a gap of about one millimeter between the toothed pulley. The clearance is set using appropriate washers. The toothed drive pulley is manufactured in a disk format with 58 teeth located every six degrees. There are no two teeth on the pulley, which is necessary to generate a crankshaft speed synchronization pulse.
Continuing the conversation about where the crankshaft position sensor is located, it is worth saying that the vehicle can be fitted with both an all-metal pulley and a pulley with a damper. The first is practically not subject to wear. The main thing is to ensure that there is no dirt and other foreign elements between the teeth. If in your car a pulley with a damper, it is important to constantly monitor its condition. Any damage to this element will “stop” the engine and the car as a whole.
Visual pulley control can be done through the right front wheel arch. This is true if the machine is equipped with a metal pulley. In the event of a breakdown of the crankshaft sensor, the timing drive and the generator drive pulley, the controller usually fixes the error and lights the "CHECK ENGINE" signal. The error buffer contains errors "35" and / or "19".
