    What is reform?

Today, a variety of reforms can be found at every turn. But only sometimes the reformers themselves sometimes cannot give an exact answer to the question of what reform is. But in fact, everything is simple. Reform is innovation introduced by the authorities of a country or a state through legislation. Moreover, these innovations are so break the usual life of people that some can not get used to them for a long time.

    Types of reform

    1. Reforms that improve the quality of life of people. An example is the introduction of the euro in the territory of the European Union or the abolition of serfdom.
    2. Reforms that reduce a person’s standard of living. A prime example here would be an increase in the retirement age or an increase in taxes.

    Great reformers

When we ask ourselves what reform is, we certainly remember such a great reformer as P. A. Stolypin. It was this person who, for the first time in Russia, carried out the largest agrarian reform. At the same time, the plots were transferred to the full ownership of the peasants, a cross-strip was abolished, land was bought from the landowners, which were then sold to the peasants. It was thanks to the reforms of P. A. Stolypin that practically every poor peasant family received a land plot for personal use.

And, of course, it is impossible not to say a few words about another modern-day reformer, M. S. Gorbachev. This man made quite a few reforms during his reign, but the most memorable and significant of them was the state’s rejection of the communist ideology.
