Head Chef Joo Won and his 24-strong team have just launched their new Autumn Classics Menu, with a modern take on classic French dishes such as mushroom pithivier, pumpkin velouté and blackberry crème brûlée. The lowdown

With abstract golden sculptures and fresh flowers on every table, there is a luxurious atmosphere of old-fashioned, understated elegance. The beautifully presented dishes arrive quickly and the champagne glasses are chilled in the freezer for an extra special apéritif on arrival. An impressive wine list complements the highly imaginative Autumn Classics Menu which celebrates the seasonal earthy flavours of autumn with generous portions. The highly knowledgeable in-house sommelier will recommend the most suitable wines for your choice of food, from Chilean Sauvignon Blanc to French Muscat and Bordeaux Sauternes, and the delightful Manager, Andrew Sicklin, will ensure you have everything you require for a fantastic evening.

Menu highlights

Galvin at Windows have maintained their Michelin star every year since 2009, and the new Autumn Classics menu is a testament to their creative combinations of flavours and flawless presentation. Our evening began with champagne and a refreshing crab, apple and yoghurt amuse bouche as we stared at the astonishing views across Hyde Park. To start, we had the beetroot cured salmon with horseradish, orange and kohlrabi and the pumpkin velouté with blue cheese tortellini and granola. Sophisticated flavours using the best quality seasonal ingredients that are full of flavour.

The pumpkin velouté, in particular, was divine. For the main course, we had pan-fried fillet of Pollock with shellfish, root vegetables and vermouth velouté, and the mushroom pithivier with sweet potato purée and roasted cep mushrooms. The pithivier was a beautiful golden flaky pastry casing with a creamy and fragrant mushroom filling that was packed with flavour. The menu also boasts traditional Beef Bourguignon, steak tartare and seasonal cheeses. Pudding came in the form of a tangy blackberry crème brûlée with vanilla and citrus shortbread and poached blackberries, and scrumptious Banoffee pie with edible flowers and a generous drizzle of caramel. Coffee came with homemade chocolate truffles and the fluffiest homemade strawberry and lime marshmallows. What’s not to love?
